GUIDE

‘All Money is not the same!’

‘All money is not the same!’ has been produced on behalf of the Crescendo Network by EURADA, the European Association of Regional Development Agencies.   ‘All money is not the same!’ has two functions. First, it is a guide for public decision-makers charged with improving SMEs’ ability to access growth finance, and second, it aims to give companies an insight into the type of finance that is best suited to their needs.

Where funding instruments are described, the guide contains Internet links to specific examples, many of which have been derived from meetings of the Crescendo network.  However, public authorities are welcome to adapt the guide, adding links to sources of finance and support in their own region. The aim is that the guide should be a living document. To assist this concept, the guide also contains two prototype mapping tools, also developed by EURADA.

Mapping Tools

The first of these is a discussion aide, designed to help public decision makers identify how large and how integrated the finance supply chain is in their region (see a powerpoint version of the regional finance mapping tool).

The second sets out the pathways to finance for a typical SME. Public authorities may choose to ‘personalise’ this tool so that it acts as a signposting mechanism for SMEs in a region – the organisations providing finance and management support could be highlighted in the tool (see a powerpoint version of the SME pathways to finance tool).
